kind words

“I am an avid collector of Rita’s work with six of her original paintings in my collection. My first two purchases were from her Birches series and over the years I’ve commissioned Rita to create custom landscape and cityscape for specific areas in my home. Each commission has been a wonderful experience. I’ve received so many wonderful comments on my paintings. Rita’s art has enhanced my living space with character and warmth.”

My most significant “ART” highlight of 2023 was having my original paintings included in the Princess Margaret Lottery Show Home designed by Brian Gluckstein – Gluckstein Design.

“They are beautiful and a great addition to the house!” – Brian Gluckstein

“I love the shift in this new abstract series. It is light and playful, yet still very recognizably you. The way your brushstrokes are and the blending of your palette is not a far detachment from your other collections.“

Monday Motivation. I didn't set a bunch of resolutions this year but I did set some intentions at the start of 2024. I've got a few big things in the works and I just had to start the week reminding myself that I'm not too old and it's not too late. Hoping to share some wonderful art biz related news soon. "How do you choose a colour palette" is a question I get asked a lot. When I work on a commission my client will usually have a colour palette in mind, so that makes my job easier. When I start a new series of paintings (which I'm in the process of now) I search for colour inspiration as I go about my day. A walk in nature, a stroll in the mall, Pinterest, or looking through books and magazines. A fun exercise I started doing a while ago was to go through all the magazines that I had and tear or cut out colours. It's a fun way to come up with endless colour combinations. They usually end up in my mood board. I also find it very relaxing. Let me know in the comments if you've tried this or plan to. P.S. You don't have to be an artist to enjoy this activity. #artreel #artistlife #colourinspiration #dailyinspiration #createeveryday #gratitude #inspireme #abstractartist #paper #play #havefun
A new series of paintings always begins with inspiration. I decided to embrace the dull, dark, snowy, rainy days of January, and I'm creating a colour palette of beautiful neutrals. The paintings in this new series will feel soft, cozy and calm. I think we all could use a little calm right now.
Let's add some colour and warmth to this dull and snowy day shall we? "Beach Cabana No.1"

Day 21 of the 21 days in my art world challenge. DREAM BIG I've been doing this for quite a while now and it's with gratitude that I can say many of my ART dreams have come true. As this last prompt is
DREAM BIG, here goes. My BIG DREAM is to have my original art included in a 5-star luxury hotel/resort on a beautiful ocean. I am commissioned to create 8 original paintings for this resort. To capture the true essence of this beautiful resort, I'm asked to create the work on site. The flight, luxurious ocean view suite, all meals and a car is provided for myself and a guest. I would also be provided a studio space and all the supplies needed to create this series. I imagine that it would take at least a couple of months to finish all the paintings and when completed, I'd receive a payment of 6 figures. And this happy BIG DREAM brings us to the end of this challenge. Thanks to @taraleaver for creating the #21daysinmyartworld challenge. I had a blast doing it, following the hashtag and seeing others participating, and enjoyed playing along. ##21daysinmyartworld24 #artchallenge #artcommunity #artpractice #artistlife #artforinteriors #artforhotels #artcurator #artcollector #originafineart #abstractpainting #artbuyer #interiordesigner #interiordesign #ritavindedzisart
